About She
“And now it appeared that there was a mysterious Queen clothed by rumour with dread and wonderful attributes, and commonly known by the impersonal but, to my mind, rather awesome title of She.”
She is a novel by English author H. Rider Haggard, first published in 1887. A classic Victorian adventure story, and a seminal work of fantasy, it recounts the story of three English gentlemen who set sail for Zanzibar, in search of the titular “She”.
Braving shipwreck, sickness and cannibals, Leo and his companions set out on a quest to find Ayesha, a legendary white sorceress who rules a remote African tribe. This story of romance, mystery and exploration into the unknown still has the power to thrill readers today.
